Jacquie aka Babelbish

I manage a team of creative souls who design, write, plan and craft beautiful executions educating people on how to use Facebook to connect with people all over the world.  I love that I get to work with creatives who think uniquely, bringing passion to everything they do, and who work together to solve problems that help to make Facebook simpler, and more effective to achieve success.

Katie aka Dixi

Facebook's mission is to make the world more open and connected, and playing a part in that gives me the opportunity to impact on the lives of millions of people.  The computer programs I write can affect more than 1.4 billion people around the globe, which is a mind-boggling figure.

I work in a team that builds tools to help keep spam, malware, and other nasty things off Facebook.  Our system has to be able to handle more than 1 million requests every second, which makes for some interesting technical challenges.  We use functional programming in our fight against spam, which is my favourite coding style.  I co-founded a global group for women in functional programming called Lambda Ladies.  I am passionate about boosting the number of girls and women involved in technology.

I moved from Australia to London in the UK to work at Facebook, and also to spend time exploring Europe.  When I am AFK (away from keyboard), I enjoy travelling to new places, swing dancing and dressing up vintage style, putting a modern twist on looks from the 1940s and '50s.
